App Service Standard Tier Gone?

📅

It appears there’s some changes to the pricing page for App Service tiers. It no longer displays Standard tier and a lot of the Premium tiers below V3.

If you recently looked at the Azure App Service pricing for Windows (link to pricing page: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/pricing/details/app-service/windows/), you might have noticed the Standard tier options (S1, S2, S3) aren’t listed there anymore.

Instead a link “Existing customers looking for Standard plan, click here.” can be seen which points you to a page with the title “Legacy Pricing” - https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/pricing/details/app-service/windows-previous/ Standard link Legacy pricing page

It also seems that the SKUs no longer listed can be deployed when creating a new App Service Plan.

This seems like a good step forward with the new offerings seeming a little more appetising. The S1 tier can be replaced by the P0v3 which has more resource at a cheaper price.

I haven’t yet seen any official documentation backing this up, but who knows I may have missed it. I would assume at some point customers will be forced to move off of the “legacy” plans as is usually the case when Microsoft makes changes to its offerings.
